Hachiya Persimmon
Diospyros kaki 'Hachiya'
Large and deep orange-red with a distinctive acorn shape, this variety requires hot summer weather to fully mature its fruit. The flavor is rich and sweet, with astringency disappearing as the fruit softens. Mature fruit may be frozen and later thawed to complete ripening. A productive and ornamental tree, it requires about 200 chill hours and is self-fruitful.
