The Tree Power program is an energy savings incentive program offered to Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) customers. Both shade trees and standard sized fruit trees are eligible for the program.
Simply bring in your ORIGINAL March utility statement to redeem your free tree* (up to $35 in value). Larger trees can also be purchased with the $35 being applied towards the total purchase price. RPU customers can also earn rebates up to $175 in total value by purchasing 5 additional trees per year.

How does the Tree Power Rebate Program work?
Riverside Public Utilities will issue a bill credit for the purchase of up to five qualifying shade trees per year. Maximum rebate amount per tree is $35. However, the rebate will not exceed the purchase price of the tree.
Sales tax, installation, delivery and other associated costs will not be considered part of the total purchase price.
Why plant trees?
Trees planted around a home can reduce cooling costs by as much as 20%. In addition to saving energy, here are some other benefits trees offer:

Tree Power Program Qualifying Trees
Most shade trees and standard sized fruit trees will qualify for the program. Dwarf sized fruit trees, shrubs and palm trees do not qualify.

Program is subject to fund availability and may be cancelled at any time.
Customers must fulfill all program-specific and general RPU program guidelines to be eligible for incentives.
The level of incentive is $35 per tree for the purchase of up to five qualifying trees per electric account, per calendar year. Rebate amount cannot exceed the purchase price of the tree.
Only specific species of trees qualify for this program. Trees are subject to approval by RPU.
Qualifying trees must be purchased from a City of Riverside merchant, and planted within 14 days of purchase at customer’s service address.
