Bosc Pear
Pyrus communis 'Bosc'
This long, slender pear with rich brown skin is prized for its superb quality—among the very best. Harvested in late October, it is excellent both fresh and cooked. Best suited to drier regions, as it can be susceptible to fire blight in warm, moist climates. Requires 500–600 chill hours and is pollinated by Bartlett or other pear varieties.
