Sugar prune is characterized by its reddish-purple skin and greenish-yellow flesh that is dense, very rich and sweet. The flesh turns a deep shade of fuchsia cooked. It has lower chilling requirements than other prune varieties making it the preferred prune variety for milder winter areas.
