Sweet Pomegranate

Ornamental and self-fruitful, with sweet, long-lasting fruit

Sweet Pomegranate

Sweet Pomegranate

Punica granatum 'Sweet'

Sweeter than the Wonderful variety, this tree is more widely adapted and produces better-quality fruit in cool-summer climates. A small, glossy-leafed ornamental, it features showy orange-red blossoms in late spring and is ideal for espalier or container growing. Fruit ripens in late summer and, when harvested unsplit, can be stored in a cool, dry place for two months or more. With a very low chilling requirement of about 100 hours, this variety is also self-fruitful.
